Business

Bringing out the abilities everyone already has.

As 8vaLabos, we build ability-development apps based on the theory of music producer Koji Yamada. A sense of pitch is not only about music. It is about how people communicate with one another.

Ability-development apps

Our main app is 8va Relative Pitch Training. By listening to a base note and singing do-re-mi, you tune the piano in your brain.

Sharing ideas

On note, YouTube and X, we share ideas about singing, voice, language, and the mind and body through articles and videos (in Japanese).

Our Philosophy

Seeing every field through resonance

Koji Yamada’s theory, Seiri Sugaku (physiological mathematics), sees the body and the natural world as sharing the same structure. It reads every field through resonance: not only music, but also voice, language, the mind and body, relationships and even numbers. The six topics below are entry points we have written about on note (in Japanese).

  • Pitch

Being tone-deaf is not a matter of talent

Not being able to hit a note is a matter of how you use your brain. When the right brain joins the left, you can use all 12 keys instead of only 7.

  • Voice

The resonance of your voice depends on the balance of your brain

Your voice travels deep through the brain before it reaches your throat. There are four main ways to arrange notes into a scale, and each one brings out a different state of the brain.

  • Language

Japanese makes the body’s eight levels resonate

Seiri Sugaku sees the body as having eight thinking layers stacked from bottom to top: three in the gut and five in the brain. Each of the five vowels resonates at a different level, and speaking Japanese naturally brings changes in pitch to all eight.

  • Mind and body

Seeing mental and physical discomfort as vibration

Seiri Sugaku looks at the true nature of things not as shapes but as vibration. When you hold on to worries, the mechanism that tightens the gaps between cells (tight junctions) tightens inside the brain as well, beyond its original role. You can loosen it yourself by singing all twelve notes evenly with your own voice.

  • Relationships

What a sense of pitch changes is your relationships

When we listen to someone’s voice, two things happen in the brain: translation and resonance. Resonance only happens in both directions.

  • Numbers

    Ternary, beyond binary

Computers describe the world in binary, as 0 or 1. In his new book 3-Shinsū e no Michi (“The Road to Ternary,” Hikaruland, 2026), Koji Yamada shows the world of ternary that lies beyond it.
